Mexican protestors have blocked the entry of travellers who are trying to cross the southern border in a way to stop the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.
Many demonstrators blocked the southbound lanes of the Mexican-American border of Nogales. This lane links Arizona with Sonora. The protestors blocked the lane on Wednesday with a vow to come back again on Thursday.
The Mexicans are demanding that people who are willing to come to Mexico should take the coronavirus test and should show a negative result for the same.
At Sonoro, protestors held warning signs for travellers coming from the United States to not enter Mexico, fearing the spread of coronavirus in the country.
They were on the streets for several hours blocking the border, demanding for the travellers to be tested for the virus.
The United States of America has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world. The country’s positive coronavirus cases have cross 142, 746, whereas Mexico has reported 585 cases until now.
China, where the outbreak started has reported 81,000 cases; however, the country now claims that there zero cases after the draconian lockdown, the measure, which is being resisted by the President of Mexico.
Jose Luis Hernandez, accompanied by Sonorans for Health and Life, warned that the protest was a warning for the President of Mexico to take the coronavirus threat seriously.
Mexican authorities have faced a lot of criticism from their citizens and other countries for their unconcerned approach with regards to this deadly virus.
In fact, a governor brushed off the issue by saying that Mexicans are immune to it. Additionally, in an online broadcast, Luis Miguel Barbosa claimed that only wealthy people had been the main victim of this virus.
