According to new allegations and witnesses stepping forward, Michael Jackson was physically aggressive towards his pet chimp named Bubbles who attempted to commit suicide back in 2003.
Following the death of The King of Pop, the chimp, who is now 35 years old and weighs 168 pounds, was taken to Wauchula’s Center for Great Apes located in Florida.
Jackson adopted Bubbles from an animal trainer back in the 80s and initially kept him at his home in Los Angeles. After moving to the Neverland, the chimp grew up and started getting more aggressive towards Jackson and his children.
As a consequence of Bubbles’ outbursts, Jackson had sent the primate to an animal trainer in the same year the chimp attempted to commit suicide.
Earlier this month, following years after Jackson’s death, Dame Jane Morris Goodall, an 84-year-old top primatologist, spoke out and revealed that she believes Bubbles suffered physical abuse while in Jackson’s care.
Furthermore, she confirmed that Jackson lost his temper when she asked him about Bubbles’ condition. “I went to see him and we talked about Bubbles. I ticked him off,” Jane previously said.
“Bubbles is still alive and he’s beautiful. But when he was with Michael he was being beaten,” she claimed earlier this month.
While the primatologist didn’t claim that it was Jackson himself who abused the chimp, other witnesses claim they saw the abuse first-hand.
La Toya Jackson’s ex-husband, Jack Gordon, claims that he witnessed the King of Pop attacking Bubbles. “I saw Michael punch Bubbles in the face, kick him in the stomach,” he said.
The animal abuse controversy sprouted shortly after the release of the film ‘Leaving Neverland’ in which alleged victims spoke up about the sexual abuse that Jackson put them through while they were staying on his ranch.
