When Barrack Obama was elected as the President of the U.
S.A., many people rejoiced. However, a lot of people believed that he could not win and ridiculed not only him but his family as well.
During an interview with Gayle King, Former First Lady Michelle Obama stated the truth. She admitted that in several instances, people of color still face a tough road in this modern world.
And this is exactly what Barrack and Michelle had to go through during their campaigning for the presidency.
Since Michelle is the first African American First Lady of the U.S.A., she had to work really hard just to make things work.
She said that she had to prove that not only she is strategic and smart but also had to work harder than every First Lady in history.
On being asked about her campaign in 2008, she told that she was accused of several things and had to face stereotypes from people all over the country.
On being asked about her memoir entitled “Becoming”, she explained that before becoming The U.S.A. First Lady, she was a successful lawyer and therefore learned to battle her way to the top.
During her interaction at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, she explained that both Republicans and Democrats turned the strength of a black woman into a caricature.
She was criticized for being an angry black woman emasculating her husband.
In another interview during the 25th Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, the Former First Lady discussed how black women are mislabeled and stereotyped just because of their skin color.
She also told that black women do not get to share their stories frequently, and felt honored that she could share the details of her life with millions of people through her book.
