Disneyland is where magical things happen – and I’m sure that those who work at such a wonderful place witness many heartfelt moments.
Emily Gibby is one of those employees who worked her magic to make a child happy.
It all happened when she was helping out with the pin release event, where Disneyland announces new addition to its line of collectible pins.
While she was cleaning up after the event, Gibby noticed a red lanyard on the ground. It had a small piece of paper.
This note said, “Hello, I am autistic, and I don’t talk much, but i would like to trade for Mickey pins!”
Judging by the pins clipped on the lanyard, Gibby could tell that its’ owner wasn’t really lucky in getting the desired pins.

Touched by the note, Gibby decided to help out this unknown owner.
First, she filled up all the empty space on that cord with various Mickey pins. She did leave the four pins that were already there, so that she could find the owner more easily.
Then, she posted a before-and-after photo of the lanyard with all the pins on Facebook, asking the viewers to share her post so that she could return the lanyard.
Amazingly, Gibby finally found the owner, Susie, after this post was quickly shared for more than 1,000 times!

In addition to meeting Susie to her lanyard back, Gibby is also using this opportunity to raise awareness of autism.
She said,
“I have always known that people with autism have daily struggles that some of us will never realize, but recently I have learned that something as small as losing a possession could drastically change their day, week, or even their month.
This month, I am challenging myself to learn more about autism so that I can clearly and efficiently communicate better to people that may have it. And I I implore you to learn as well!”
What an amazing way to use the spotlight to urge others to learn about an important issue!
