Joining the ranks of Mississippi and Kentucky, Georgia recently banned abortion at six weeks or later after the ‘heartbeat’ bill came to pass.
Following the outlawing of abortion at later stages, outraged protestors, including high-ranking celebrities, suggested that the bill limits women’s rights and takes away “legal control” over their bodies.
One of the activists is actress Alyssa Milano who started the “sex strike” and encouraged women to follow her example.
Despite the massive backlash from the Democrats, millions of people, including top officials, spoke out and praised the ‘pro-life administration’ of the state.
One of the biggest defenders of the new law is Vice President Mike Pence who slammed Democrat-led states for adopting “extreme pro-abortion legislation.”
“Sadly, many states around the country are … adopting extreme pro-abortion legislation,” Mr. Pence told the reporters.
“President Trump and I have worked to stand for the sanctity of life since the outset of this administration. And I know many states around the country are embracing life.”
During an interview, the Vice President also slammed the Democrats who voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that would ensure medical attention and protection of babies born alive after unsuccessful abortions.
The bill proposed to make it obligatory for healthcare workers to “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child (as) any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”
“Frankly, the fact that the United States Senate today refuses even to vote on a bill that would protect children that are born alive is deeply troubling to millions of Americans,” Pence said after the bill failed to pass.
