Mike Tyson is building a marijuana empire – and it seems the legendary boxer is testing out some of the inventory himself.

Just recently, the former heavyweight champion was seen with a joint in his hand at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Virginia.

A bystander who was waiting for their brother at the airport detected the scent of marijuana at the moment Tyson got out of his car. “I looked up, and saw Mike Tyson getting out of the car with a joint/blunt in his hand,” the onlooker told The Daily Mail.

“The weed smelled really strong, I was thinking, ‘who would be stupid enough to smoke weed at an airport?’

“He looked pretty angry when I took the photo, so I didn’t take any more, you don’t want to get on the wrong side of Mike Tyson.”

Tyson is building an enormous recreational marijuana facility which will include a weed resort, a theater, the longest lazy river in the world, and a Tyson University on 420 acres of land in California near Desert Hot Springs.

Though the construction work started in 2017, the transformation of the land in a luxurious resort, an amphitheater for concerts and festivals, and princely tents for accommodation is yet to be completed.

The 52-year-old has also decided to launch his own university to teach marijuana cultivation to farmers.

Speaking to Cannabis Tech Today, Tyson said of his venture: “I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no brainer.”

After his boxing career came to an end, Tyson started wasting himself with drug abuse. He eventually became able to quit his years-old substance addiction with the help of weed.

Rob Hickman, Tyson’s business partner, said weed “changed his life,” and now “he’s the perfect person,” Rob told GQ in an interview.

The boxer started his marijuana business, Tyson Holistic, in 2016. His company deals in cannabis, marijuana strains and extracts as well as other eatables.

The map of the prospective weed ranch got completed in October but the progress of the project is not known yet.

Tyson says that the motivation behind his project was to make people aware of and benefit from the healing properties of marijuana and CBD.

Attendants will be free to smoke at every nook and corner of the park except for the places where liquor will be marketed. Tyson will not be producing marijuana himself, instead, the plant will be brought from cannabis retail companies in partnership.

The marijuana will be given Tyson’s seal of ‘dank’ approval after a thorough inspection to make sure it meets the high standards set by Tyson Holistic.

According to the business website, the cannabis strains sold to Tyson must be naturally cultivated indoors, reaped when the plant is fully mature, cured for a month to guarantee natural flavor, naturally cropped and derived, hand trimmed, verified through lab tests, and should be pesticide-free.

Speaking about their business venture, Hickman told GQ: “We’re not burdened with bad crops. We’re not burdened with legalities. We’re selling paper. Packaging. And market share.”

Tyson has chosen to administer his business from his warehouse office, situated in El Segundo, where his friends Roseanne and Sean Penn often visit him.

The boxer is also busy in releasing a podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, and reeling a shoot of his huge venture to be broadcasted in a TV show.

Even though the luxurious resort is yet to be completed, Tyson has already started organizing musical festivals.

In the inaugural Kind Festival held outside Palm Springs in February, a large number of people gathered at the resort site to watch the live performance of A$AP Ferg and Miguel. Besides the music performance, the revelers smoked week with Tyson and got an insight into what the ranch would look like.

“Mike Tyson’s building a whole ranch out here, y’all!’ It’s gonna have the world’s longest lazy river! This s**t is serious!” the D.J. shouted during the festival.

Hickman is also negotiating to launch another Tyson Ranch at the border of Georgia and Florida, despite the fact that recreational pot is illegal in both the states.

As of their California’s ranch, Hickman says it will still remain popular even if the state government reverses their laws about cannabis as there will be a lot of things to do in the resort besides just smoking weed.
