Firefighters helped one military dad to surprise his 3-year-old son as he was away from his family for six months.
U.S. Air Force Captain Manny Lamson returned from a six-month deployment to Qatar and wanted to surprise his 3-year-old son Connor.
Lamson contacted Abilene Fire Department in Texas and they immediately agreed to help him surprise his son.
Firefighters pulled up to his home in a large red truck to surprise Connor.
“Hey buddy! How are you?” one firefighter said to Connor.
The firefighter asked Connor if he wanted to check out the firetruck and the 3-year-old said ‘Yes’.
As he sat in the driver’s seat, they asked if he wanted to meet another firefighter.
His father came in full gear and Connor reached out to shake his hand.
When he realized it was her father and not a firefighter, Connor hugged him. His reaction was heart-melting.
The Abilene Fire Department shared the video on its Facebook page with the caption:
‘Welcome home Captain Manny Lamson from a 6-month deployment at Qatar Air Base. He is a part of the 9th Bomb Squadron at Dyess as a Weapons System Officer on the B1. Since his son loves firefighters we got the opportunity to welcome him home in style! Thank you for your service Lamson family.’
