A U.S. Navy petty officer, who was away from his family in Farmingville, New York for over a year as he was deployed in Bahrain, surprised his two kids at school.
“It makes it difficult because I get to see them, and they know I’m separated by 6,000 miles, but yet I can talk to them and interact with them,” he told WPIX.
Jacob Stock, a father of two, and his wife, Kelly decided to give their children a surprise when he returned to his home.
Lynwood Avenue Elementary School made the necessary arrangements to help them surprise the kids.
Their kids, Andrew and Ava Stock, were told that they were being honored for their good behaviour at a special assembly.
Principal DeLorenzo asked them to come onstage for the honour.
Ava, who is a fourth-grade student, and Andrew, who is a kindergartener, went up on the stage.
“Due to your courage and strength you’ve displayed here at Lynwood, we are so happy to present you with a very special moment,” the principal said.
That’s when Stock arrived on stage and Ava shouted: “Dad!”
Their reunion was heartwarming that left everyone in tears. DeLorenzo said: “It’s one of the most memorable moments being a principal, to see members of our family reunited together.”
Stock, who has served in the Navy for 10 years, said: “I love my children very much, obviously. I don’t want to let them go, either, but I have my duty to my country, and I enjoy that.”
