Come again? A bag of milk?
Most people in the United States do not recognize that milk cartons are an American patent. Jon Var Wormer of Toledo, OH, invented the classic milk cartons in 1915 to replace the glass milk bottles.

Since milk bottles were heavy and hard to transport, milk cartons were revolutionary. Also, milk cartons do not require the lid, so it is much more economical than glass milk.
In Ontario, Canada, there are two milk containers: a carton and a bag. 1 liter and 2 liters of milk are packed in milk cartons and when you want to purchase over 4 liters, you will find milk in a bag.

Milk bags are recyclable and take up less space. Also, you might think that the milk bags are fragile, but it isn’t.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, 70 percent of milk cartons are placed in landfills.
In fact, Canada is not the only country to use milk bag. The United Kingdom recently started to use the milk bags; one of the most popular grocery stores Sainsbury has started to use milk bags.
