Millennials Want Secret Santa Banned Because It Makes Them Feel Uncomfortable

Millennials have shared their opinion and asked for Secret Santa practice to be banned because it is allegedly too “stressful” and gives people anxiety.

Secret Santa is a common practice that may take place in any social group or community. All participating members are assigned a random person to gift whereas the person receiving the present never gets to know who gifted them.

While the idea sounds like fun to most people, millennials have expressed their desire to ban the practice at work in a study by Jobsite.

According to the results of the job-hunting website’s study, it was “found that younger workers are often spending more than they can afford on presents for their colleagues” even though a clear budget is set beforehand because they are afraid of being “judged” for their choice of a present.

In addition, millennials expressed their anger over the management’s lack of consideration of their personal financial limitations.

“I think there’s the potential for the whole range of human emotions, right from humiliation when you give someone a gift. It’s important to us how others feel about our behavior and how it comes across,” a psychologist said of the matter in an interview with Twenty-Two Words.

According to the study by Jobsite, more than one-third of millennials questioned wish to see Secret Santa get banned. The number is similar to that of the people who also wish to get rid of office birthday celebrations.

To cope up with the fast-changing human perspectives, psychologists suggest employers take into consideration “mental health” before coming up with activities and events that involve everyone at the workplace.
