A millionaire verbally abused airport staff and demanded to be treated better because he is rich.
Neil Grinnall, 56, showed his anger on Catia Figueira and Michelle Gillingham when they told him his hand luggage was too heavy for the Ryanair flight from Bournemouth Airport to Malaga.
A court heard he called them ‘f***ing fat b****es’ and began to shout ‘this is f***ing ridiculous’ before he declared he would never fly from the airport again.
When police arrested him, he told them he’s ‘a rich man’ and had paid more money for his seat so he had ‘expected more courtesy’.
Neil then tried to pay the two victims named Miss Figueria and Mrs Gillingham compensation in order to avoid the case going to court, but they refused.
But he has now been fined and ordered to pay compensation to each of his victims after admitting to using threatening or abusive words towards them.
Magistrates also instructed Grinnall, from Sandbanks, Dorset, to pay court costs and victim surcharge.
Despite missing his original flight Grinnall managed to fly to Spain and posted a picture of himself in Marbella on social media four days later.
Kingsleigh Viollet, prosecuting, told magistrates that Grinnall was hoping to catch a Ryanair flight to Malaga on the morning of May 23, 2018, when he kicked off.
He said: “He has been told his hand luggage was overweight and had lost his temper and started shouting.
“He shouted things like ”this is f*****g ridiculous’ and called both of them ”f*****g fat b*****s’.
“These women were just doing their job and they were understandably petrified.”
He added: “In his interview with the police Mr Grinnall basically said ‘I am a rich man’ and believed that by paying more for his seat he deserved more courtesy.”
