The viewers of “Who Wants to be A Millionaire” were left disappointed after a contestant got the answer to 1 million dollar question right, but still did not win the jackpot.
Andrew Townsley, a retired GP, won Euro 500,000 and had the last lifeline, which he used to phone a friend. The jackpot question was about which icon race was first held in the history of the motorsport.
Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans 24 Hours, Isle of Man TT, and Indy 500 were among the popular choices.
Andrew’s friend had no idea what the right answer was so he decided not to take the risk. But the contestant did manage to guess the right answer. The viewers were on the edge of their seats for the whole episode and were left gutted with the final outcome.
Post the episode people took it to Twitter to express their emotions. One guy was truly mind-blown by how well Andrew performed, whereas someone else commented that they are truly heartbroken for him; however, called him a true legend and congratulated him on his phenomenal journey.
Another Twitter user commented that Andrew is truly an excellent player and seems like a nice person as well, and congratulated him for winning 500K.
Andrew in his interview said that he felt super excited and hopeful when he reached the final question. And he was quite disappointed that neither his friend nor he was confident to give a definite answer.
Andrew added that in the show he confessed that he and his wife always fancied the Niagara Falls and he would like to plan a trip there in his wheelchair. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu trip would also be a great trip but is no longer on their list.
He might not have won the jackpot, but Andrew with his humble charm won hearts of the viewers.
