Mehgan Merriott and Robert Cooper, a couple from Georgia, had gone to their doctor’s office for their twelve week ultrasound. Like any expecting couple, they were very excited to see their baby for the very first time. They knew they were going to be touched and surprised by what the image shows, but they were definitely not expecting this. What they saw on the screen with their doctor would blow their mind.
Even their doctor could not believe what he was seeing, either!
In the image, it seemed as if their baby was raising its hand to its eyebrow and saluting the father, Robert Cooper, who is a former marine. Cooper’s heart melted as he watched the screen.
“While they were doing the sonogram, the baby was actually sleeping on its side and they tried several times to get him/her to wake up to take the picture they needed to take”, Merriot said of the memorable moment, “The baby didn’t want to wake up, then threw [its] hand in the air and then threw it back down”.
Merriot said she had to fight back tears as she saw it happen. “I thought it was sweet”, she said.
Everybody “thought it was pretty crazy at first”, Merriot added.

Their doctor, Dr. Daniel Eikleberry, and his nurses were also heart-warmed by the moment. Merriot’s 3-year-old son, Cambden, was shocked as well.
“He looked up at the screen and started laughing”, she said.
Although the sex of the baby has not been announced yet, Cooper said that he “really enjoyed getting to see the little guy/girl and look forward to meeting him/her”. The couple plan to announce the sex of the baby at a reveal party soon.
