You may have heard the term “Siamese Twins” before.
It’s a term that describes when a group of twins who are born with separate bodies, but typically have a their heads stuck together. The correct term for this is actually conjoined twins, which is a rare condition that happens to less than 1,000 babies born every year.

Without the surgical options available today, life would be incredibly hard for conjoined twins to live. Thankfully these surgeries are constantly improving and reducing the risk posed by taking the surgery.
These conjoined twins are actually one of the rarest types in the world. Not only are the two conjoined, but they were born with a sister as well, meaning that they were triplets and two of them were conjoined! Incredible!
The surgery options they are given can range from very simple to incredibly complex, to basically impossible depending on how the twins are conjoined. For these two babies, the chance of success was there and it offered them a good life, so the parents took the chance.
The two survived the operation perfectly and everyone in the family was relieved. An amazing story to tell at parties, but also a scary one to live!

After only a short period of time, the above photo was snapped of the two sisters happily playing with bubbles. You can see they are still close together but both are still happy, beautiful children.
Since then, the pair have been growing up normally. Of course, they each need a prosthetic limb and a bit of physical therapy to help them cope, but the two have found happiness and success. In fact, the two are planning on riding their own horses soon!
All three children are growing happy and healthy. You may notice that their (younger!) sister is actually quite a bit bigger than them. This is due to the birthing situation, but the pair are as happy and excited as any child. They don’t let anything get them down.
Despite being separated, the bond between the pair has remained very strong. Mackenzie and Macy stick together for everything. The two even comfort each other! When they were babies, their parents recalling them sucking on each other’s thumbs. How adorable!

As they grow older, they are sticking together with a truly unique and powerful sister bond. The two may face some unique challenges due to their birth, but having that tight of a connection and their strong spirits is sure to help them in the future!
