A contestant from the Miss World Beauty Queen pageant has reportedly called it quits after refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The contestant who represented Netherlands on the world famous pageant claims she’s just not ready to be vaccinated and certainly doesn’t feel too good about it. For this reason, she has stunned her country, fans, and other officials of the platform with her decision to quit running for the title.
Miss World Netherlands made the breakthrough announcement recently, but added how the decision was a very personal one and for that reason, she expects others to respect it.
“This is my decision and don’t feel too comfortable or good about getting the COVID jab and that’s why I’m choosing to quit,” she went on to add.
The reason why so many people were startled by her decision was related to the simple fact that this contestant had previously spoken about how winning the title for Miss World had always been her lifelong dream. This was also something she claims that she had worked so hard for.
For those who aren’t aware, training for a pageant like this takes years of grooming. But for this young woman who goes by the name of Dilay Williamstein, being vaccinated was just too much pressure for her and that’s why she opted to step out.
As per the competition’s policy, all contestants need to be vaccinated so that they could travel to Puerto Rico and compete in the final where one lucky winner would win the title of being crowned the most beautiful woman of the world.
While the event was scheduled to be held in December, final travel arrangements were being made for the girls but for this 21-year-old, she just didn’t want anything to do with the COVID jab. And if that meant saying bye to the title, then so be it.
