The body of a missing model has finally been discovered in a secret mass grave in northern Mexico.
24-year-old Yessenia Alvarado was buying items in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora on August 18 when she was kidnapped by armed men wearing masks.
According to Mexican news outlet Sintesis Noticias, the mother-of-one was shopping in the Sonora neighborhood of Aves del Castillo when kidnappers grabbed her and pulled her into a vehicle.
Alvarado’s family said that the kidnappers called them requesting ransoms but they suddenly stopped communicating.
Her mother, Yadira Rivera, said: “A person called extorting us, supposedly saying that they have her, saying give me so much and I’m going to release her. They have tried to take advantage of the situation.”
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Agency anti-kidnapping unit searched the property in the Sonora municipality of Caheme and that’s where they found the remains of the missing model along with six other bodies.
Alvarado’s family was notified and one of the victims has been identified as Yessenia. Forensic Scientific Intelligence Laboratory also confirmed that one of the bodies found was Alvarado.
At least three men have been detained in connection with the bodies. All suspects were held in custody while prosecutors and defense lawyers examine the case.
Alvarado’s grieving brother, Juan Alvarado, wrote on Facebook: “Fly high sister. I’m going to miss you very much my friend, my life partner,’ he wrote in Spanish. ‘I will see you soon in order to be together my queen.”
Alvarado was featured in the music video ‘Solo To Te Ame’ (It Was Only I Who Loved You). The video was shared on singer Jose Manuel’s YouTube channel only 11 days before the model was abducted.
