A daughter has been slammed for her “disrespectful” post at her father’s funeral and users criticized the influencer for insulting her veteran father.
An unidentified model from the US became a hot topic of conversation online after sharing a snap of herself posing next to her father’s casket
The insensitive snap was uploaded to Instagram where her followers begged her to take it down.
In the picture, the woman can be seen in a tight one-sleeve blazer mini dress with a plunging neckline, black tights, and tall heeled boots as she poses in front of her dad’s open casket.
From behind her figure, you can just about make out her dad’s clasped hands, but luckily she blocks his face from sight.
She captioned the photo with: “Butterfly fly away,” describing her dad as her “best friend” and honoring his life as “well-lived”.
The woman appears far from bereaved, showing off her outfit while kicking up one heel, casting her eyes downward in a sultry expression, striking a faux-prayer pose, and offering a close-lip smile to the camera.
When the photo found its way to Reddit, it has left users disgusted, sharing their outrage in the comments.
A Redditor who spotted the Instagram post said the caption simply read “rip” with a string of hashtags including #papi #dadless #veteran #ptsd #funeral #neverforgotten.
“‘Influencer’ uses her dad’s funeral and coffin as a backdrop for her latest photoshoot on Instagram,” the Reddit post stated.
The Reddit user also revealed that “almost all the comments were telling her to delete it” which she may have since done, as the post no longer appears searchable by those hashtags.
“Her own father,” one commenter said. “That’s just sad and I hope someone yelled at her for it”.
“Holy crap, is this so incredibly disrespectful,” a second user wrote.
“I can’t have my future kids grow up like this,” a third furious onlooker fumed.
“The internet has completely desensitized us to emotions and common sense,” a fourth one said. “Everybody just keeps chasing sensation and shock to get attention.”
“Never pass up an opportunity to self-promote,” said the fifth user.
“People in the comments are telling her to take it down, but I’m sure she’ll keep it up for the clout,” another one has added.
The word “trash” is all one user could find to describe how they felt about the picture.
“This is so trashy that I can’t upvote,” another one said. “That’s pure trash.”
“This b**** can’t even honor her own father, who fought for her country,” another one wrote. “It’s not just trashy, it’s disgraceful.”
“On the one hand she has to be a despicable human being, on the other hand, her dad probably raised her and is at least 50% responsible,” another commenter said.
Some users speculated the shot may have been “staged” in an attempt to go viral on social media. But even if that was the case, one user argued that “it doesn’t change the fact that she thought it would be a good idea to stage a photo of her flexing in front of a coffin”.
Several argued that even if she hadn’t posed for the pictures, then posted them online for attention, it would still be “trashy” because of how inappropriate her dress was.
Another person commented on the changing nature of funerals overall. They admitted that the “Last funeral I went to everybody just wanted it to be over so we could go to the bar and tell funny stories about the deceased.”
“Human race is doomed there’s no way it will last till 3000, we need a hard reboot,” another wrote.
Commenters have noted that the deceased man who is partially visible in the open casket behind her was a veteran, his casket draped in an American flag and set up at what appears to be a meeting hall for veterans.
