A model who wanted her lips to look like those of Kim Kardashian was left in tears of pain after a botched fillers procedure that left her lips swollen.
Following her incident, 32-year-old Lora Evans from Swansea warns young women to take caution and avoid dodgy practitioners if they want a lip job done.
As the model who was left with a “trout pout” says, reality shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Love Island have resulted in a rise of dodgy beauty treatments that often end in disaster.
Speaking of her own excruciating experience, Evans said her lips kept on expanding even after the procedure. At one point, they grew big enough to touch her nose and leave the 32-year-old afraid to look in the mirror.
“By the end of the night they had literally gone right up to my nose,” the model recalled.
“I was so worried because, at the end of the day, my face is my livelihood. I definitely lost some money out of it.”
As the mother-of-one added, she followed the trend by choosing to get her lips “plumped and enhanced.”
“It’s getting very popular and its popularity is growing because of Love Island culture, TOWIE and the Kardashians,” she explained.
“You’ve got the Kim Kardashian and everyone is after that fuller, plumper, lip look, as well.
“There’s always going to be a pressure on young people and more and more because of Love Island.
“Instagram is huge and you’ve got these ideas of perfection and people to want to achieve that look but it’s not real – it’s really not real.
“I had it through personal choice because it’s what I wanted to have done but people need to think really if it’s what they want to have done.”
According to Evans, she got lip filler at a fully qualified surgeon. Nevertheless, her operation was rushed and left her with swollen lips.
“I feel that he rushed it and I don’t think he used any numbing cream at all so it was agony, very, very painful,” she added.
“When your lips are just increasing by size hour by hour and they literally are going to the full capacity in size and they are starting to split.
“I was more worried about the long-term effects of it, thinking: ‘Have I completely destroyed my lips out of vanity?’”
