Proper grooming is one of the essential skills that our parents pass onto us as we are growing up.
It’s more than just a matter of hygiene because good grooming also affects how other people react to us and how we feel about ourselves. Of course, our parents have their own ideas about what proper attire and grooming should be like so it’s common to hear comments such as, “You look like a punk” or “That’s too revealing.”
It’s natural for our parents to become protective but in this video by Real Stories, we see a British mother who is practically obsessed with how her daughter is supposed to look like in public. The scene starts with Jane Bennington scolding her daughter Sasha about her appearance and what she should wear before they go out for dinner.
Sasha is whining about all the effort she’s being put through but her unyielding mother gets her way. Sasha soon comes out of the house in something more stylish.
Jane explains that it’s important for her children to “keep up” with other kids, at least as far as grooming is concerned. She said that otherwise, it could lead to things like teasing and bullying. Ironically, Sasha calls Jane a bully as her mother tries to get her to look proper. While we can understand her concern for her daughter, Jane’s methods do leave something to be desired.
