Mom Makes Her Messy Kids Pay Fines Whenever They Break Their ‘Cleaning Contract’

A clever mother has come up with a cleaning contract that she forced her messy teens to sign in order to get them to stop littering in her house.

As Katrina Neathey from West Sussex explained, she had enough of her children’s dirty habits, whereas 13-year-old Olivia, 18-year-old Joshua, and 19-year-old Hayden would often not take care of their rooms and belongings.

To counter their behavior and get them to do some cleaning, the mum came up with cleaning contracts that oblige her children to pay when they misbehave.

“They’d hide dirty clothes or plates at the back of their wardrobe. I’ve found milk bottles left to go off. The worst was a used chopping board,” the 36-year-old mum said.

As Katrina added, she lost her patience after coming across the mud on the family’s new carpet.

And so, she forged personalized cleaning contracts for each of her kids and forced them to sign the papers.

As seen in the home-made contracts, the kids are now required to make their beds, properly dispose of trash, put their clothes away, avoid eating and drinking in their rooms, and similar ‘chores’ that children of their age should do without being asked to.

As for the penalties for breaking the rules, Olivia has her phone taken away from her for days depending on what she commits.

Meanwhile, the boys have to pay a £5 fine for each rule they break.

“The boys will notice when £5 has gone out their pocket. It’s making my life so much easier. I don’t have to nag, which is great for everyone,” Katrina added.

She also admitted that the contracts may seem “harsh” but insisted that they are “fair” and good for everyone.
