The mother, Taylor Perdue from Acton, was at the Robert Drive shopping center in Easton when the incident happened.

A customer found the baby boy and police responded to the scene. The 17-month-old baby seemed to be unharmed and was brought to the Good Samaritan Hospital for a checkup.

According to reports, the mother only realized that her son was missing about an hour after leaving the child in a shopping cart. She already arrived at her destination when she noticed that her child wasn’t in the back seat.

Officers then caught up with Perdue. She told the police that after leaving the store, she went back to her vehicle along with her three friends.

She thought, however, that one of her friends carried her son and secured him in his rear-facing car seat. Perdue also told cops that she traveled to Plymouth while her companions left in separate vehicles.

Perdue has custody of the baby but she is expected to appear in Taunton District Court.

Internet users were also quick to express their thoughts, with one saying: “Don’t get it, mum to 3 and I always keep checking on my children even when we are walking around in shops, all on harnesses or holding hands and kids get put to their seats first then shopping away. I have forgotten shopping in the trolley yes but never my children.
