A woman from Los Banos, California, met with her child who lost almost three decades ago, who she thought is not alive.
All credit goes to the DNA test kit.
In 2017, Tina Bejarano of Los Banos went for a DNA test when her daughter forced her, and so she did. After a few days, she received an email that read: “I think we need to talk, it says we’re related, and it says you’re my mom”. A man from New Jersey sent that email, and Bejarano couldn’t believe her eyes.
Bejarano was brought up by her step-father and an abusive mother. She says, when she got pregnant at 17, her mother told her that she could not keep the baby with herself. When she delivered the baby, her mother told her that the baby died 15 minutes after birth.
“The next day, she comes back to tell me, ‘The baby died 15 minutes after it was born. It never made it. It was sick.”
After a few months, Bejarano started dating Eric Gardere and they got married. And now they have five children together. She always celebrated the day of her lost child. But, nobody knew that the baby was born healthy and was adopted five days later by a loving family.
Kristin, Bejarano’s lost child, became a man and living his happy life with his wife and a baby of his own. They have been in touch since they found out they are mother and child and even Gardere says that he feels like Kristin is his own son.
“We’ve been communicating with Kristen for a few months now. He calls me Dad, I call him son, I text him every morning.”
Bejarano is just happy she has found her child for whom she’s mourned all these years.
The family will meet soon. Kristin with his family going to Los Banos to meet Kristin’s biological mother and they’ll be staying for four days. The whole family is very excited about this upcoming reunion.
This heart-touching story proved that how science can change people’s life through DNA identification. Just like this family has reunited with the help of DNA testing.
