DIY Mom Transformed Her ‘Tired And Overused’ Staircase With Paint And Vinyl Stickers For Just $80


A DIY mom has won praise from the internet after she transformed her ‘tired and overused’ staircase into a brilliant artwork using just paint and vinyl stickers.

What makes this transformation even more amazing is the fact that she did all this in just a measly $79.25.

The snaps of the impressive handiwork were shared be her on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK – a Facebook group for money-saving geeks, run by money expert Holly Smith.

She explained that she swapped her stairs carpet with a material that will be easier to maintain.

Posting before-and-after pics, the DIY guru wrote: “My $79.25 staircase. Had to lift my old carpet (3 kids and a dog so it didn’t last long).”

“It was too expensive to replace the carpet and pay a fitter, so I did this myself instead. It’s so much easier to clean now,” she added.

When asked how she was able to give a perfect professional finish, she replied: “It took five minutes a stair to sand them.

“I kept the old paint on them, and just smoothed them down with an electric orbital hand sander.

“I borrowed the sander, however I’ve seen the same one in Asda for £15. I stuck the stickers right at the end of each stair. If you zoom in you should see them.”

Her post received an incredible response, with over 3,000 comments and more than 16,000 likes.

One person said: “That looks so cool, well done you!” and: “You clever girl. It will last years and only a mop to clean it. I love it.”
