It has been a part of general mannerism and school ethics that students stand up to greet their teachers.
But, recently, an agitated mother has accused the school of making students stand up when the teacher enters the classroom. She labelled this practice as a regimented power trip.
Michelle Westgarth Graham said that she discovered about the new rule at Trinity Catholic College in Middlesbrough.
The school headteacher came in defence of the institute by saying that it is a part of getting the basic ethics and teaching students to respect their teachers.
The headteacher also added that their school had experienced some problems related to the poor behaviour of students towards their teacher. And as a part of teaching them basic discipline, the school initiated this rule.
The mother of five slammed back to the school by saying that the rule is a throwback to the Victorian times. She added that she knew that the school had some issue with students’ behaviour, but the solution that they have found is certainly not acceptable.
She even questioned, next they will make students salute the teachers as well. The mother agreed that the school had brought some really good thing, but this is certainly not expected from the school management.
The headteacher bounced back by saying that everyone at the school should respect the basic manners, whether it is respect teachers or remain amicable with the students.
She further added that the school’s aim is to cultivate strong Catholic ethos and ensure that even staff have the ambition to make their students excel in every field.
Students should have respect towards their peers, teachers, and surroundings that the basic mannerism that begins with the school added the headteacher. It will further help the school create a better learning environment for children.
