A son has revealed that his mother had the word ‘adulterer’ carved onto her husband’s headstone after he tragically died while in bed with his pregnant mistress.
He took to Reddit and talked about the family drama, claiming his father died from a heart attack while making love with his mistress.
Reddit user u/One-Poetry9190 asked if ‘Am I the A**hole’ for not having his father’s headstone changed.
“My father and mother had a very bitter marriage towards the end of his life; he had a long-running affair with another married co-worker and got her pregnant before he passed,” he wrote.
He said that his father was already planning on leaving his mom to start a new life with his pregnant lover in Canada, where they already had a house.
“’He had moved out and was living with his co-worker when he suddenly died of a heart attack while having sex,” the Reddit user continued.
“Divorce papers were never filed, no legal separation. They were in the process of moving all things legal. But on paper, they were still happily married.”
“My mom was hurt and petty and marked his gravestone as ‘In loving memory of John Doe, son, husband, father, and adulterer,’” he explained.
“My dad’s family and his pregnant partner are mad and want me to fix it.
“I personally think it’s fine, that’s who he was,” he added. “He was all of those things. And since it’s my mom’s plot, I can’t do anything.”
He also said that the pregnant mistress is “about to pop any day” but his mother has no plan on giving her any money.
“My mom has lawyered up and since my dad died intestate, according to our state laws everything goes to mom,” he added.
“Mom won’t leave anything for side piece. She is going to leave it for us once she passes.”
Many people praised the mother, with one person writing: “Yeah NTA, but your mom is a stone cold legend and my new hero. This is a level of hilarious pettiness to which I can only aspire. And since it seems most of this thread agrees, please let her know we all applaud her.”
Another commented: “If they’re so offended by the accurate description, then perhaps they should go buy a park bench at a park and dedicate it to him how they want to dedicate it to him and go there to “visit” him…this is so not your problem at all.
”
A third said: “I would DIE (no pun intended) if I was walking through a cemetery and saw that! Your mom is an icon. NTA. I hope she burns his old shirts or something.”
