A shocked mother gave birth to a boy after scans showed her twice that she was having a baby girl.
33-year-old Hayley Sexton had already decorated her nursery room with pink items, with the name Isabella written on the walls.
But the excited mom was definitely in for a surprise when she finally gave birth after 33 hours of labor.
“When the midwife said, ‘He’s here’ I was like, ‘What do you mean He?’” she said, according to The Sun.
“At two scans I’d been told my baby was a girl.”
The single mom continued: “When she gave him a clean up and lifted him I saw his bits!
“It meant we had to come up with a new name — Alfie — as well as redecorate the nursery and take back a load of clothes.”
The teaching assistant added: “It was the craziest experience.
“My dad had joked, ‘What would you do if you had a boy?’ and it happened.
“I was over the moon when I found out I was going to have a girl. But I absolutely love Alfie and wouldn’t change him for the world.
“It was meant to be.”
One Facebook user who had the same experience commented: “I too was told its a girl only on my last monthly scan I casually said”how is she doing”. The lady then asked “why do you think it’s a girl”. I told her that I was told it was z girl on my 20 week scan.
“She then said that this scan was telling her different. She took a scan pic of his bits and I was flabbergasted. It didn’t matter that it was a boy or girl it was just a shock. I bought everything pink. Her name was going to be Holly but I changed it to Oliver or ollie. I cried and laughed as I waited for neuro antenatal. Birmingham women’s hospital were great! Wouldn’t have it any other way!”
Another wrote: “I definitely knew I was having a boy, he wasn’t shy on the scans.”
A third added: “Having a healthy baby is the most important thing, personally I don’t think anyone should be told xx just my opinion.”
