There is no doubt that mothers are amazing.

It is incredible how they educate, care for, and lavish affection on their little ones. They can also become powerful and ferocious whenever their children are being threatened.

Parents Chelsea and Kevin did not expect anything to go wrong when their child, 7-year-old Zach, was playing in their backyard.

But a cougar suddenly made its way onto their yard and attacked their son. Chelsea immediately ran outside after hearing Zach struggling, and that’s when she saw it.

A large cat had her son in its jaws and had started to drag the child away. Without any time to waste, she decided to act immediately.

“She’s so selfless,” Kevin told The Canadian Press. “She had to get its mouth off of Zach.”

“She literally did, and I’m not glorifying it. I’m just saying this is what happened. She had to pry its mouth open.”

During the literal life-and-death situation, the brave mother shouted to God for help. The wild animal eventually released her son and fled but it smashed into a metal fence and scratched its way through.

“You can see all the claw marks of it pushing its way through,” Kevin said.

Little Zach ended up with gashes and cuts on his neck, head, and arm, but he is now okay. Officers soon located two young cougars near the area and euthanized them.

Even though the little boy should make a full recovery, Kevin and Chelsea believe he may have a hard time dealing with the psychological consequences.

“This was a pretty near-death experience for him,” Kevin said. “When a kid is seven, that stuff doesn’t typically come to your mind.”
