An 8-year-old girl drowned in a backyard swimming pool along with her mother and grandfather just weeks after the family had moved into their new home.
According to the reports, young Sacchi from New Jersey, who allegedly didn’t know how to swim, was playing in the backyard pool of their new home when the tragedy occurred.
While the pool is believed to be just some 3.5 feet in its shallowest point, the water allegedly runs as deep as seven feet in the pool’s deepest point.
As sources have reported to NBC, Sacchi most likely found herself in trouble keeping her head above the water level after reaching the deeper sections of the pool.
After the family spotted the 8-year-old struggling in the pool, both her mum, 33-year-old Nisha, and her grandfather, 62-year-old Bharat Patel, had attempted to save her and died in the process as neither of them knew how to swim.
After calling for help, Sacchi’s aunt jumped into the pool as well and managed to pull the 8-year-old out of the water. Sadly, however, life had already left her.
Following an investigation, the officials confirmed that the drowning was not caused by electrocution as some neighbors had suggested.
The tragedy followed just weeks after the family moved into their new home in East Brunswick. With their pool just being serviced, they were allegedly excited to use it as soon as possible.
“We were so excited for them, it’s the right weather you should get it done and it’s such a bad sad day,” Vishal Makin, the family’s neighbor, said in an interview with NBC.
