A mother has tragically passed away just hours after giving birth to her son while on her deathbed.
36-year-old Svetlana Sorochinskaya from St Petersburg in Russia died just weeks after losing her parents to coronavirus and only hours after giving birth to her baby boy.
According to the reports, Svetlana’s father, Kirey Pinchin, passed away from Covid-19 complications on November 5, just over a week after he was discharged from the hospital where he underwent heart surgery.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old’s mother, Vera, started suffering from coronavirus symptoms which resulted in her death on November 12.
“I will love you forever. You didn’t have enough time to see your grandson,” Svetlana wrote in a tribute to her father after his premature passing.
Following the death of her father, pregnant Svetlana was rushed to an infectious disease hospital after she tested positive for Covid-19.
Days after her hospitalization, the mother gave birth to a baby boy who was born six weeks prematurely. Just hours after giving birth, the mom passed away, leaving behind a newborn baby with no immediate family left alive since the 36-year-old refused to name the baby’s father.
Svetlana’s death resulted in a custody battle over her baby who inherited valuable property in the city following the death of his mother and his grandparents.
One man has already stepped forward and claimed to be the baby’s father. He reportedly agreed to undergo a DNA test to confirm he is the baby’s biological parent.
Meanwhile, however, Svetlana’s cousin, Larisa Kachkaeva, insisted that the man is not the baby’s father according to what Svetlana told her before she died. Kachkaeva also offered to raise the child.
“Svetlana had said that he was not the father of the child,” the cousin said of the man who claims to be the orphaned baby’s father. “We await the result of the DNA analysis and the court will decide.”
