A disappointed mother has spoken out to reveal she can’t bring herself to like her “sullen, bratty” 9-year-old daughter.
As the anonymous mum revealed in a piece shared on Kidspot, she tried her best to like her eldest child, a 9-year-old daughter, to no avail.
According to the mother, she doesn’t like her daughter “95 percent of the time” whereas she now tries her best to avoid her as much as possible because she can’t stand to be around her anymore.
“I have three children, two of whom I adore. I feel for them how I assume the majority of parents feel about all of their children,” she expressed according to the Kidspot post.
“My son and my younger daughter are not perfect, they challenge me at times, throw tantrums, have their faults – but I still adore them. I like spending time with them, I like who they are, I like them. This is not how I feel about my eldest daughter.”
As the mom raged on, it wasn’t until her daughter turned three that she started disliking her because of how her attitude changed.
While she insisted that she still loves her daughter, the mother said she now can’t bring herself to like her due to the 9-year-old being “sullen, selfish, and bratty” most of the time, including when she’s at home and at her school.
“I clash with her constantly, when I try to hold her accountable for things, I end up frustrated and angry. Even when we are on holiday and I try and really let it go and just have fun, I end up fed up with Lilly [name changed] about an hour in and find myself avoiding her at all costs,” the mother added.
“It has come to the point where I now ask my husband to lead the parenting charge with Lilly. I ask him to take her to her sports training, to any events or parties she is going to, to help her with her homework, to discipline her and to supervise her on the weekends.
“Ultimately, I just can’t stand to be around her and for the sake of both her and I, it is best if I am not as much as possible.”
Though her husband tried his best to help her overcome her negative feelings towards their daughter, the disappointed mother couldn’t help but speak out anonymously since she can’t share her feelings with people around her.
“I have tried to work on my relationship with Lilly a few times in attempt to solve the problems.point 81 | Before I resorted to stay away from her, I tried the opposite, and spent quality time with her – endeavoring to get to know her even better with the hope that this would allow me to see a redeeming quality, or even an issue that was causing some of the behavior that could be resolved.point 318 |

Giving up on trying to like her daughter, the mother said she hopes her personality will change in the future so that she can start liking her and spending more time with her.
