A mother has been slammed by social media users after sharing a photo of a table full of fast food and soft drinks she bought for her daughter’s 7th birthday party.
Despite having nothing but good intentions, the mum-of-two from Ratana, New Zealand, was quickly slammed by strangers after her Facebook post went viral.
While some parents defended the woman saying that kids should be allowed to eat delicious fast food for occasional birthday parties, others accused the mum of throwing a “diabetes party” and giving the kids “a heart attack.”
“My girl’s 7th birthday party. Kentucky chicken, cheeseburgers, Thai food, pizza,” the proud mother captioned her photo on Facebook.
As seen on the picture, the kitchen table was occupied by 20 cans of soft drink, 20 cheeseburgers, 10 pizzas, six coleslaws, six KFC buckets, three Thai stir fry containers, five potato and gravies, and plenty of sweets and chocolates.
Soon enough, angry commenters flooded her post and accused the mother of bad parenting.
“This is not a healthy diet,” one user wrote.
“Happy birthday, we got you a heart attack,” another one said.
One woman suggested: “New Zealand has a massive obesity problem and this is not helping. No seven year old needs food like this.”
Despite the massive backlash, plenty of people supported the mother’s decision and said that the food looked delicious.
“Some of you need to chill. I mean, it’s one day? Not every single day of their entire lives,” one person said.
“I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in my life,” someone added.
One person suggested: “Might have to do this for my birthday. All that food looks good.”
