A worried mum has spoken out about her son’s addiction to video games and claimed that the boy doesn’t even make the time to eat and go to school because of his dangerous habit.
According to Lilybeth Marvel, she is forced to hand feed her 13-year-old son, Carlito Garcia, who binge plays video games for 48 hours in a row without a break.
As Marvel added, her son’s addiction first came to light several years ago when the boy started staying up late and visiting internet cafes to play games.
In footage recorded by the woman’s friend, the mother is seen hand feeding her son while he is playing computer games in Nueva Ecija, the Philippines.
In the recording, the mother is struggling to get the boy’s attention and feed him. As she expressed, she is worried that if no one feeds him he will starve and become malnourished.
During the feeding, Carlito frequently becomes agitated and pushes her mother’s hand away.
“My poor child… Here, eat now. You have so much money, it might take till tomorrow for you to get home. Do you still need to pee? My goodness, just feel sorry for my child. You are so irritating,” the mother can be heard saying in the video.
The parents have removed Carlito from school while they are attempting to address the problem in their own ways. While people have been suggesting to ban him from playing, Lilybeth said that it doesn’t work because he always manages to sneak off and play in an internet café.
“My husband and I decided that he should stop schooling first because of his addiction. Now we’re trying our best to manage the situation but it is still difficult,” the worried mother shared.
“I used to just nag about his online games. But that didn’t work. So I’m trying a different approach.
“I try to make him feel that whatever is happening in his life, I am his mother who loves him and takes care of him.”
