A 31-year-old mother has given birth to a giant baby boy who is believed to be the third biggest baby in the UK.
Cherral Mitchell needed two midwives to deliver Alpha, who has been nicknamed ‘Butter Bean’ and ‘Baby Hippo.’
The mother-of-four said: “We didn’t think he was going to be that big. Everyone kept laughing when his head came out. My husband Tyson was like ‘oh my God he’s chunky.’”
Baby Alpha was born weighing 14lb 15oz.
“There were two nurses pulling – one was trying to push him down to get him out. The nurse said it had to be the biggest baby and were on their phones Googling,” Cherral continued.

“He’s a bit of a pumpkin baby with it being so close to Halloween.”
Alpha is believed to be the third biggest baby in the UK. The current record-holder is Guy Carr who was born weighing 15lb and 8oz in 1992.
The second biggest baby is George King, who was born weighing 15lb 7oz in 2013.
“They (doctors) think that because I was diagnosed quite late with gestational diabetes, Alpha was in amniotic fluid that was sweeter,” Cherral said.
“So he was drinking a lot and peeing a lot and getting a high intake of sugar.”
Alpha was around 11lb 1oz in a scan at 37 weeks but he gained three more pounds before he was born via c-section.
“My stomach was big but not that massive so I don’t know where he was hiding,” Cherral said.
“I keep saying I gave birth to a baby butter bean. My uncle Jason calls him a baby hippo.”
