Author Wendy Priesnitz emphasized the importance of the autonomy of children. We all know that our kids will eventually grow up and make their own decisions. But sometimes we still see them as babies even in their 30s and tell them what to do.
Animal mothers may feel the same way as we do; as the baby animals are clumsy, their parents can’t wait to help them. But this mother giraffe waits patiently for her baby.

Sarabi at the Memphis Zoo gave birth to the female baby giraffe. Zoo spectators were lucky enough to see the birth of baby giraffe right in front of their eyes.
During the delivery, everybody around them wished the same thing: a healthy and successful delivery. In the video below, we can hear people sigh with the relief after the birth.
And there’s the second time when spectators hold their breath.
Just after Sarabi delivers the newborn, she looks down at her baby and checks if she is okay.
Sarabi waits until the baby stands up without any help. When she finally makes it, people clap and cheer.
A zookeeper at the Memphis Zoo Richard Meek said, “Giraffes usually stand within an hour of being born. This one stood and started nursing very quickly, so we were very pleased.”
The visitors know they are lucky to witness the incredible birth of giraffe!
