A mother discovered in a heartbreaking way that her daughter had actually been swapped at birth.
She only found out the truth when the young girl was killed after she was sexually abused by her husband and his brother.
According to authorities, the girl’s stepfather’s brother, Oleg Akhtiyainen, has already been arrested.
They found out that 10-year-old Yana Alexandrova had been abused by her stepfather for years.
Detectives also learned that Yana’s older sister, 21-year-old Alina, had suffered years of sexual abuse at the hands of their stepdad, Yuri K. He has been sentenced to 13 years for his crimes.
Yana’s body was found in a forest and a DNA test revealed that Yana and her mother Elena Alexandrova were not biologically related due to a mix-up in the hospital.
“I don’t think it was my girl who was found dead,” Elena said at that time. She couldn’t accept that Yana wasn’t her biological daughter and believed the culprits had dressed her child’s clothes on another girl.
However, Yana’s DNA matched with the family who were raising Elena’s biological daughter.
Her biological child is being raised by a loving family who were unaware of the mishap.
A friend said that Elena has been told she cannot see her real daughter until she’s 18. “She understood the distress it could cause to her child.”
Elena said she remembers the woman who has raised her blood daughter.
“There were three of us in the ward, from different villages,” she recalled. “We were chatting. Everything was normal.”
Akhtiyainen faces a possible life sentence. His accomplice, 35-year-old Boris Bokarev, was also detained for helping him dispose of the body.
