A young man came to the rescue of a “distressed” mother who found herself stuck at the airport.
The heartwarming moment took place at Ibiza Airport in Spain where a mother-of-three broke down after Ryanair staff told her she had to pay an additional $65 baggage fee because her suitcase was slightly oversized.
In a video taken by a fellow passenger, the upset mother is seen placing her hands on top of her head as her kids continue running around.
That’s when a young man steps in not only to comfort the mother and tell her that everything will be alright but also to offer to shoulder her baggage fee.
“It’s alright, it’s alright… Don’t worry I’ll pay for you,” the stranger reassured the mom before proceeding to the counter and handing over his card to pay for the woman’s baggage.
After the heartwarming ‘rescue’ mission, the footage of the act of kindness made its way on social media thanks to a fellow passenger. Sharing the video, the traveler wrote:
“Well done to this young hero for paying the ridiculous Ryanair baggage charges for a distressed mother travelling with three kids (who wasn’t getting any leniency from ground staff). The flight from Ibiza to Stansted was half empty, not sure what difference a few cm would make.”
Following the incident at the airport, the traveler who caught the moment on camera provided some extra details about what had happened in Ibiza.
“As far as I could tell, the mother with her children had got caught out with a bag that exceeded the allowance on her ticket,” they said.
“She was upset and rather tearful while also trying to keep an eye on her kids. By the time I figured out what was going on, a young man stepped up to the ground handling staff and was heard to say ‘it’s okay, I’ll pay’. The man preferred to remain anonymous.”
