A 30-year-old woman has been missing for a month after she shared a video on social media announcing that she is pregnant.
Ca’Shawn Ashley Sims, a popular fitness influencer, was last seen in Duarte city outside of Los Angeles on September 8.
On Tuesday, her worried family launched an official appeal to find her.
In her last video on YouTube uploaded on September 11, Sims revealed that she discovered she was expecting after she celebrated her birthday in April.
Also known as Cookie, she has thousands of followers on social media, including almost 10,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, Body By Cookie, and over 216,000 followers on Instagram, @cookieeedough.
Her mother told ABC7 that her daughter struggles with mental problems brought on by the pandemic.
The influencer’s sister, Ca’rynn Sims, also took to Instagram and launched an appeal, writing: “Please be on the look out for finding my sister to ensure that she’s okay and safe. She has abandoned her home, her dog and seemingly her phone which is unlike her.
“I never thought there’d come a day of me posting a missing flyer for my sister. We want her covered in prayers, God’s grace and to know that she is whole, well and alive.”
Ca’rynn told everyone to look out for her sister’s elephant tattoo on her arms. She also has the words ‘As sisters we stand together’ above a world on her forearm.
The Los Angeles sheriff’s department also said in a statement: “Her family is concerned with her wellbeing and asking for the public’s help.”
“Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Missing Persons Unit investigators are asking for the public’s help locating Missing Person Cashawn Ashley Sims Nickname of ‘Cookie’,” they wrote in the public appeal.
“She is a 30 year-old female Black who was last seen on September 8, 2021 on the 2100 block of Broach Ave. in Duarte. Cashawn is 51″ tall, 120lbs with black shoulder length hair and brown eyes.”
“Ms. Sim has a tattoo of ‘It’s found in the soul’ on her left collarbone, ‘Earth’ on her left forearm, and a tattoo of Spanish writing on her back,” they added.
