31-year-old Nadezhda Zavialova is facing an investigation after her newborn child was found lifeless in a washing machine.
According to a report by Russian authorities, Nadezhda gave birth to her fourth child and her husband Denis contacted emergency services after seeing her covered in blood.
However, the baby was found inside the washing machine.
Nadezhda, who claimed that her child was stillborn, is facing charges over the murder of a baby and could be jailed for up to five years.
Well known in her town as an excellent hairdresser, Nadezhda was described by her neighbors and friends as a ‘good mother.’ They couldn’t believe that she was capable of taking the life of her baby.
Her friend, Elena Firtseva, said to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper: “Nadezhda is hardworking and caring mother.
“There was no reason to kill the baby and in such a cruel way. She told me that the child was born prematurely and was stillborn.”
Another friend said: “I saw her recently when she was pregnant… Maybe the family had some quarrels, but this was not visible. I would never think she could do this.”
Nadezhda has a son with her ex-husband, and two daughters from her current husband.
One internet user commented: “How on earth does a human get to the moment that they put their newborn baby into a machine???”
Another wrote: “Did she actually place the baby in the washing machine and turn it on? If so that’s sickening.”
A third added: “Someone should have known her mental health was in question with that haircut for a start!”
