A mother was branded neglectful and irresponsible after opening up about her parenting style in a viral post on Reddit.
As the anonymous mom insisted, she was scolded over the way she’s treating and raising her children by her own mother.
According to the mom, she allows her children, aged 3 and 5, to be in “full control” at all times, meaning they can do whatever they want without facing any repercussions or punishment.
She also claimed she allows her kids to choose what they want to wear and how their hair will look like as she suggested her daughter recently shaved her head.
As per the mother’s unusual parenting approach, the children never get punished for bad behavior and are allowed to decide whether or not to give their grandparents a hug.
“I have two children. My style of parenting is not the most popular,” the mother revealed.
“I do not punish my kids; I ignore bad behavior and reward good behavior, or if they’re doing something wrong I simply redirect them. It works amazingly for me and my children are both very well adjusted and behaved.”
While the mom insisted her kids behave well, she was slammed over her parenting methods by her own mother after her kids refused to hug their grandma.
According to the mom, her own mother called her neglectful after the incident involving her grandson.
“Apparently they’ll never grow up and will be bullied in school. She also claims they’ll become badly behaved once they grow up,” she added.
After asking Reddit for advice, the mother was quickly confronted by angry netizens who suggested she was being irresponsible and harmful to her children.
“At ages five and three, their brains aren’t developed enough to understand acceptable vs unacceptable behavior. It’s ludicrous to expect that,” someone wrote.
While people raged on about how the mom is allegedly teaching her kids bad values, some rushed to her defense saying she can do as she pleases.
“Your mum doesn’t get a say in your parenting choices and you’re doing a good job letting them make their own choice,” someone suggested.
