A mother-of-eight who is addicted to pregnancy while living off benefits says she does not care if people think she’s lazy or trashy.
Marie Buchan, a single mom from Birmingham, first made headlines when she appeared on the TV Show Only Human in 2016.
“I am addicted to pregnancy, I’m addicted to birth and feeding, I’m addicted to that,” she said.
“I think a lot of people do see me as trash really. Lazy, useless, just producing babies for money,” the mother added.
Speaking about one of her kids, Buchan said: “She’s a happy baby. That’s why I could easily do it again.”
According to reports, she receives $686 (£500) in benefits per week, and that’s $35,700 (£26,000) a year.
The octomom has also appeared on ‘Benefits Britain: Life On The Dole’ where she said she works 21 hours a day taking care of her children.
But Buchan has come under fire again for appearing to use benefits to pay for her lavish lifestyle.
The mom sparked outrage when she said that life was better on benefits.
Last year, she said that she managed to save up for a boob job thanks to her part-time work and car boot sales. She said that the reason she looked for a job (her first in 16 years) was to avoid the benefits cap.
In December, people were left furious over her decision to fly to Spain without her children after the Christmas holidays.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the octomom said: “Government claimants like myself, a mom of eight, are forgotten.”
One person commented: “If you create a situation of poverty and hunger it’s not the governments job to feed your family or those that work and pay taxes.”
Another wrote: “The benefit system allows and encourages this behaviour so you cannot blame her.”
A third added: “I don’t go to work to pay my taxes to support her kids. I’ve already kids of my own to keep.”
