A mother has been branded as “reckless” and accused of endangering lives after sharing a photo of her daughter’s lunchbox.
One mom was in for a big surprise as she shared a picture of her four-year-old daughter’s lunchbox on Facebook only to be slammed for her choice of foods.
In the lunchbox, one can see a toast sandwich, strawberries, an energy bar, vegetable fries, yogurt drops, and sliced egg.
While the mother probably assumed that the colorful and nicely packed lunchbox would receive lots of praise, she was forced to defend her decisions after other parents accused her of being reckless.
As many people claimed, the mom was endangering other kids’ lives by including an egg, the world’s second most common allergen, in her young daughter’s lunch.
“One of my daughter’s friends from kindy was allergic to so much that even if someone touched a nut or egg and touched her she would come out in welts,” one parent wrote.
“My daughter is allergic to eggs, it’s the most common allergy according to our allergist, more common than nuts,” another one said.
After getting widely slammed, the mother said she knows for sure that none of the kids in her daughter’s class is allergic to eggs.
“They have implied I don’t care about allergies which isn’t the case.
My daughter also loves almonds but I don’t send those or peanut butter sandwiches because of the allergy risk.
There isn’t an egg issue in my daughters kinder if there was a serious issue I would never put a child’s life at risk,” she wrote after a barrage of complaints. Some of the most common food allergens include cow milk, eggs, nuts, fish, soy, sesame, and wheat.
