Lauren McCabe is a single mother who is in quarantine with her two-year-old son, Leo, at her Birmingham flat.
She received a letter from her neighbor who asked her to ‘reduce the running around’ as it was bothering them early in the morning.
The 26-year-old freelance make-up artist has asthma and a low immune system after catching shingles which is a viral infection that generates a severe rash. She was left devastated and cried after receiving the letter which read, ‘‘We think you have a young child and it must hard keeping them entertained in a flat.’’
‘‘Can we please ask that you try and reduce the running around as this is really loud. Especially early in the mornings where it wakes us up most days. Thanks in advance.’’
Lauren decided to write a letter back in the name of her son Leo. She wrote, ‘’I no longer go to nursery or get to see the people I’m used to spending time with. My mommy isn’t very well, she said we have to stay home ’til she is better.’’

Lauren’s mother, Sarah Burgess, said she has not seen her daughter as she is in isolation but one day she called her to ask how to keep her son quiet.
Sarah said: ‘‘I haven’t seen her because she’s in isolation, but she rang me sobbing, saying: ‘Mom how am I meant to keep him quiet? ‘They should have found out the background before sending that note.’’
Sarah said she delivers food to her daughter and grandson and the two only come out to spend time on the lawn. ‘‘At the moment Lauren and Leo are stuck in the flat,’ she added. ‘I buy all their food for them and leave it outside their door, and the only time they get to go out is to sit on the lawn in front of the block.’’
