A mother was left shocked after receiving a “rude” note from her young child’s teacher.
Sharing the story on social media, Melinda Tankard Reist, a writer from Australia, revealed how her friend received a complaint from her 3-year-old child’s teacher after she included a chocolate slice in his/her lunchbox.
According to Reist, her friend is a dedicated mother-of-eight and an expert chef with a degree in health science who always makes sure to prepare fresh food for her kids.
Nevertheless, the mother was slammed by her 3-year-old’s kindergarten teacher who deemed her chocolate slice unhealthy and told her to choose “healthier options” next time.
“Your child has a chocolate slice from the Red Food category. Please choose healthier options for Kindy,” the teacher wrote on the note she placed in the child’s lunchbox.
Following the incident, Reist decided to share her friend’s pictures on Facebook and slam the teacher for meddling.
“My friend (mother of eight healthy children, what follows relating to number seven) received this today from her three-year-old’s kindy,” the writer said. “I told her to put in two slices tomorrow and tell them to get lost.”
Soon enough, her post went viral and racked up thousands of reactions and comments, whereas the majority of people suggested the teacher was out of line for complaining about what was likely a home-baked chocolate slice.
“I’d write a note to the teacher – I’m responsible for feeding my child… you’re responsible for educating him/her. Enjoy your day!” someone wrote.
“Looks like someone had nothing better to do with their time then to go on a lunchbox inspection,” another said.
Some people even went on to share their own similar stories with one mother revealing she was forced to transfer her son to another kindergarten because of absurd policies surrounding children’s meals.
“When my son was in kindy they used to take things from his lunch box if they deemed they were not healthy and not allow him to eat it. Hence the reason we pulled him out of that kindy and put him in another,” she noted.
