A mother is taking her recently encountered incident public where she branded a cafe ‘mean’ for charging an elderly man for a hot beverage, despite him taking a fall outside.
The mother went on to term the cafe as cheap and insensitive because they forced her to pay for his hot cup of tea, knowing how he was injured after the tragic incident. But how exactly did it all begin is a huge question to begin with.
The mother began her story by stating how she was visiting the cafe with her own children. Adding how the cafe is a prominent hotspot for both cyclists and walkers, the mother says that she was keen on having a nice and relaxing time.
Right outside the cafe, an elderly man took a tumble and fell over the side of the road. He suffered injuries which comprised of cuts and bruises to his face. Seeing him in despair, the mother rushed on over to assist him.
As she began wiping his blood, the staff members soon took over and asked if he needed a drink that could help him feel better. And that’s when he requested some water.
“My son requested the staff to bring out a first aid box as there was an emergency. Once the man could sit up, he made his way to a table inside. Realizing that he’d have to wait longer for his ride to arrive, the man requested a cup of tea with sugar. I opted to place his order. Soon his ride appeared and he left,” she revealed.
When the woman returned back to her children, she ordered them some cake and drinks, only to find out that an order for a tea was also punched. The staff member said that since the man had left, she would be the one paying.
The woman says she didn’t feel right at that time to argue as it was just a cup of tea, but soon she felt it was beyond ridiculous how insensitive some staff members could truly turn out to be.
In addition, the mother took to her social media account and questioned others about what they would have done in her position. Moreover, it all ended up in a discussion about advice regarding whether or not she should have paid for the cup of tea or not.
“How could the staff members forget about how the man reportedly tripped and cut his face. It was the least concern of their concern as it seemed they were more worried about the bill relating to the cup of tea they gave him, right after they wiped his face that was covered with blood,” she ranted.
The mother who appeared unimpressed by the cafe’s mean standards added how they needed to show some humanity, especially when it came down to the elderly as that was the only way they would increase their customers.
“It’s beyond outrageous. He just took a terrible fall and all they were worried about was the payment of their tea!” Others felt that the woman should have paid without thinking, instead of branding the cafe ‘mean.’ However, there were some who felt that a teabag and a cup of water doesn’t cost a lot and so the restaurant shouldn’t have punched it in her bill.
