A 25-year-old single mother was very delighted after she returned from holiday and found her parents had amazingly transformed her apartment for only $60!
Amy Townsend went on a holiday with her 2-year-old son Olly and left her parents in charge of the apartment.
But what she didn’t know was that her mom and dad would be doing more than just watering her plants.
When she returned home, she was shocked to find her living room was completely different.
Sharing what happened on social media, Amy wrote: “When I saw my living room had been transformed, I was overwhelmed with joy.
“It was a total surprise.”
She shared photos of her apartment before the transformation on Facebook. The room is gloomy and dark and the walls are bare plaster.
Her mom and dad simply bought supplies for only around $60, wallpapered her home with a bright color and went for a yellow color theme.
They also painted the fireplace and added some curtains, accessories and cozy furnishings to make the place feel homey.
“While I was away, my mum and dad wallpapered and painted for me!” Amy added.
“It’s made me a lot happier knowing they haven’t spent lots as I look for free things and I shop in charity shops for bits and bobs to add.
“I don’t have a lot seeing as I live alone with my two-year-old so charity shops have to do.”
One internet user commented: “Lovely parents. It looks so nice – especially the fireplace. She must be a good young lady to have her friends speaking up for her in the comments here. I honestly thought “why would she have a child in that but take a holiday?” Thank you to her friends for explaining that the “before” was actually “during”.
Another wrote said: “Nice work – well done parents, but surely – if I had a flat that looked like the BEFORE, I wouldn’t have gone on a holiday.”
A third wrote: “Aww what a lovely thing for her parents to do for her. I wonder whether they paid for her holiday abroad too, seeing as though she doesn’t have a lot.”
