An elderly woman tragically died after she was run over by her daughter’s car when they stopped by the road to take some pictures.

94-year-old Edna Batista da Cruz passed away after being run over in Conceicao de Aparecia, Brazil, on February 15.

According to reports, Edna and her two daughters wanted to celebrate as she finally got her coronavirus vaccine.

The daughter told officers that they were on their way home when she parked her vehicle on a steep road next to a sunflower field.

She said that she applied the car’s handbrake but it didn’t activate.

When they got out of the vehicle, it started moving down the road and hit Edna, who was already walking in front of it.

The shocked daughters immediately called paramedics but Edna died of her injuries on the way to the hospital.

The 91-year-old woman was buried at the municipal cemetery.

One person commented: “What a horrible freak accident. Life can be so cruel sometimes. Feel so sorry for her daughter x.”

Another wrote: “How tragic RIP her poor daughter will never forgive herself for this accident.”

A third added: “Oh that’s brutal, poor woman must have been in agony. What a dreadful shame.”
