Mother Sleeps With Men For $12 Because Universal Credit Left Her And Her 7-Year-Old Child

27-year-old Charlotte from South London revealed that she has been forced to sell her body for as low as $12 or £10 so she could feed her 7-year-old son as they struggle to survive on Universal Credit.

Charlotte said she makes around £200 ($252) per week by performing sexual favors on as many as 15 men.

The mom-of-one said she felt abandoned by the government and it is only her customers she ‘can trust’.

Sometimes, her clients visit her home when her son is at school. Her son had no idea the lengths his mother was going through just to provide for him.

The 7-year-old knew that they are struggling that he hasn’t asked for a Christmas gift.

Charlotte expressed: “He’s really understanding about the whole thing.” Unfortunately, she is so penniless that she also plans to see clients on Christmas Day.

“I haven’t got a choice. I’ll be doing it over Christmas too – what am I meant to do?” she said.

The former housekeeper had to give up her job when she gave birth to her son as she couldn’t afford childcare.

In January, she moved onto Universal Credit and described the system as ‘vile’ after falling £500 behind with her rent and she was threatened to be thrown out.

Now, she receives £467-a-month in Universal Credit after her rent has been paid to her landlord. Her debts of £126 a month were also taken off.

But after paying all her bills, Charlotte is left with only £1.64 a day to live on.

“At times I have had to sleep with men for some change – just £10 or £20 so I can buy some food in Iceland, just so my son doesn’t go hungry,” she told The Sun.

The mother was kept waiting for 5 weeks for her first Universal Credit payment, which she said was financially crippling.

“That was the final straw when everything changed, and I saw how much debt I was in… the payments and the household bills, it all built up,” she shared.

Because her son needs a coat and a new pair of shoes, she had to sell his toys.

“I’m angry. The politicians say it’s [Universal Credit] working for some people – who?” she asked.

“Why are people getting poorer but the government don’t care? Even if something changes, I can’t erase what I’ve done now.”
