A rude and “aggressive” cyclist was pictured occupying four seats on a train while a mother with a baby was forced to stand because of the man’s selfish actions.
The incident occurred in Auckland, New Zealand, where a mum with a toddler was shocked to see a cyclist spreading over four seats without offering her a place to sit as she was standing on the train.
Upset by the man’s action, one of the passengers, Stuart Dawson, alerted the train conductor who approached the cyclist only to get scolded and cursed at.
“He went up and asked the cyclist to move and the guy just said, ‘Get f***ed.’ He said that a couple of times,” Dawson said in an interview with NZ Herald.
“The manager then said, ‘If you continue doing that I’ll let you off at the next stop.’ The cyclist repeated what he said, saying ‘f*** off’ and went back to sleep. The manager then walked off and did absolutely nothing.”
As Stuart confirmed, all other seats on the train were occupied at the time, meaning that the mother and her baby had nowhere else to sit.
“The train manager actually went up to ask her if she was OK. She wasn’t happy and looked rather uncomfortable. [The cyclist] was not a nice character to deal with,” Dawson added.
After the incident went viral, the spokesperson of the company in charge of the train line claimed the staff “take every precaution to ensure the safety of our customers” and expressed that they are “pleased the train manager followed her training by checking on the needs of the affected customer, and that the situation did not escalate.”
However, the majority of people weren’t happy with the response with many of them saying the man should have been punished for his actions by getting kicked off the train like the train manager promised.
