Everyone wants to undergo a natural process of pregnancy.
So did Mathew and Nicole Ziesemer. They did not want to visit the hospital frequently. They didn’t want any medical interventions. To have their baby delivered in their own home, so they hired a midwife and even decided to skip ultrasound.
But things always don’t go your way. January 30 was the date when the couple was expecting to welcome their baby. Due to some complications, Nicole had to visit the hospital, four and a half weeks before her due date.
Nicole’s water broke on 29th December, and the couple didn’t have a choice but to rush to the hospital. But nature had different plans for them.
Before they could reach the hospital, they were caught in a snowstorm. Mathew had to clear the entire driveway so that they could reach the hospital.
Somehow the couple managed to reach the hospital at 4 PM on Friday. Her contractions grew further till the next day. Their plan to have a natural birth was flushed down the drain.
But Nicole did not want to take anesthesia or any medication during the birthing process. But there’s hardly anything you can do when fate plays its hand. Nicole struggled for over 30 hours, and Mathew realized that he had to do something.
To prevent his wife from suffering, the couple agreed to give Nicole some medications that would induce delivery. Once they did this, everything seemed simple.
Almost 48 hours after Nicole’s water broke, the couple welcomed their baby girl Blakeley into this amazing world. The doctor pulled out the placenta after that. But her eyes went wide, and she spoke something that the couple wasn’t prepared to listen.
Doctor Megan said that she could feel another head and Nicole was going to be a mother of twins. Nobody in the entire hospital could ever forget this moment. Blakeley was followed by her brother Cade who entered the world one hour after her.
Nicole took a while to fully recover from such a strenuous birthing process. Blakeley was completely healthy, but they kept Cade under supervision to ensure his health. Due to complications during birth, Cade had fluids in his lungs.
But soon, everything was well for the couple who are shocked yet proud of their family.
