It was the Veteran’s Day weekend on November 10 in Pennsylvania, and the Archbishop John Carroll High School had organized an annual father-daughter dance that day.
Jasmine Vega, a fourteen-year-old girl, is a freshman at the same school, she was excited about the dance but couldn’t invite him as her father Wally Vega is Army Warrant Officer in the US military who is currently stationed in Texas.
Instead of getting heartbroken at the fact that her father couldn’t come, she decided to invite her uncle to the dance. Little did she know that a surprise was waiting for her.
Her mom had planned an amazing surprise along with the school staff.

Before the dance started, Jasmine, along with the Rev. Mike Speziale was required to present a prayer before the assembly. After the prayer, Reverend asked if someone’s family members were in the military. Jasmine was one of the few students who raised her hand.
Following this, Speziale requested everyone present in the room to pray for Jasmine’s father and all the other military men.
After a few moments, Warrant Officer decided to make his presence known by coming on the stage, carrying a Rose in his hand. When he entered the room, everyone present started applauding for the man in the uniform.
Jasmine, on the other hand, was standing there, with a hand on her mouth, completely dumbfounded. She had no idea that her parents and teachers had planned it in advance to surprise her.
When she recovered from the initial surprise of seeing her father after six months, she jumped in his arms and hugged the life out of him.
Vega too could not contain his emotions as he started crying when he saw the tears in his daughter’s eyes. After recovering themselves, they danced on the song “Home.”
Jasmine said that to her it felt as if they were the only two people in the room. “The moment was just very special for me, as I barely see him. That was the best moment of my life, dancing with him,” she added.
Her father is serving the US military from last 12 years. He said that the Veteran’s Day weekend was special for him as he got to spend some valuable time with his family.
He spent the entire weekend with his family and left for Texas, where he is currently posted, on Sunday.
